James Brown in Finland

Here's something cool: the first foreign translation of my fiction. While it's true that the Spy's Guide I co-wrote has been translated into a number of foreign editions, and there's a German version of The Blonde coming soon, this is the first time a piece of my fiction has been rendered into a foreign tongue. This is all thanks to Juri Nummelin, who asked if he could include "State Trooper Joke" (originally written for Bryon Quertermous's and Dave White's "Junk in the Trunk" blog project) in an edition of his Finnish crime magazine, Isku. Here, it's called "Maantiepoliisivitsi." (Which was my original title for the story.)

There's also a story by Joe Konrath here, but I'll be damned if I can tell you what's it called, or what it's about.

And while it's cool to see something I wrote in another language, some things are universal. Like the second paragraph of the story, which I think can still be understood by all:

James Brown soi päässäni. I feel good, daa-naa-naa-naa-naa-naa-NAA.
