The Makeover Compromise

Those of you who follow my blog know that when we moved into our
house in Texas, that I promised my husband David that I would not
paint the paneling in the family room.  I have honored that promise, but
I had one tiny request.  At the far end of the room is a very large built-in
bookcase.  The back of the bookcase is the same paneling.  I wanted to find
a way to break up all the paneling and highlight the backs of the shelves
while keeping the cozy characteristic of the room and NOT painting.

So I found a check with that is red with a cream background.  I showed it
to David first, because I wanted his approval.  He was fine with my
choice, so I have forged on backing the shelves.

While time consuming ~ taking everything off the shelves etc, It's been
quite simple.  At first I was going to cut and apply the fabric to foam
core.  Then I discovered Removable Poster Tape by Scotch.  It is so
easy to use, holds the fabric firmly to the back and is super easy to
remove should you wish.

David is happy and I am happy too.  Now I just need to finish the other
eight shelves.  Oh well, if the Invest 91-L is upgraded to Tropical Storm Bill,
I won't be going anywhere anyway.  Some of the weather models have
been showing my little town as the direct hit.  We could get 8 to 12
inches of rain.  Not good.  We are praying that it's not anywhere near that
extreme.  Fingers crossed and prayers being said.

Big Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
