Nels Coxman (Liam Neeson is living his quiet life in Kehoe with his wife (Laura Dern) when their only son died in drug overdose. However, he knew that his son doesn't use drugs, so he tries to track down the truth in the incident. Soon, after he gathered some information and learns that a drug syndicate is behind all of it, Nels tries to hunt them down and put justice on his own hands.
After the Taken franchise ended, fans of Liam Neeson is clamoring for more action films to add in his already impressive resume. Here he is again with another revenge themed flick and still banging bodies at 66 years old. However, Cold Pursuit isn't your typical revenge themed fiasco that is filled with explosive scenes and nonstop action. It stands on its own ground with shades of reality and has an efficient story line to back it up.
It is also a bit different as the film is mixed with comedy but not by exaggerating things, as it just simply comes up from time to time. The pace is pretty smooth and doesn't have any dull moment in it. You'll just enjoy the flow of direction and appreciate the talent on the screen. Liam Neeson has that booming charisma in every picture he stars. He is a veteran who knows how to please his audience even without doing too much work. There are plenty of characters in the film and each provided a remarkable portrayal with their roles, but it was Tom Bateman, who easily stood out. He shows his likable villainous side as if we are watching Jack Black playing with an evil grin on his face.
Overall, Liam Neeson is back doing revenge themed films but Cold Pursuit offers something different as it mixed the action and humor superbly in a material that is entertaining as a whole.
