Truckers won't go to defunded police zones

A poll of truck drivers found more than three-quarters of them won't deliver supplies to cities that defund their police. No one wants to be Reginald Denny.

Remember him?

Time magazine reported that on "April 29, 1992, he had simply loaded up his 18-wheeler and headed down the road, driving for his employer Transit Mixed Concrete. Little did he know that he would drive smack into the middle of an angry mob looking for vengeance.

"As his rig crossed Florence, a group of rioters enraged over the Rodney King verdict rushed toward him, pulled him out of the cab and beat him to within an inch of his life. The attack ended when Damian Monroe Williams took a cinderblock and bashed Denny's skull, fracturing it in 91 places and causing severe brain damage."

I am pretty sure that every holder of a Commercial Driver's License knows the story.

CDLLife reported, "We asked drivers on the CDLLife app, 'Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?'

"To date, 77% of drivers say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments."

Earlier, Transportation Nation reported, "Trucking industry stakeholders are closely watching the “Defund the Police” movement which seems to be taking hold in numerous major metropolitan areas around the country in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

"Initial peaceful protests of Floyd’s death quickly devolved into widespread rioting and looting.

"However, authorities have been able to quell much of the violence in the last week as a movement calling for the defunding of police departments appears to be rising."

Dan Doran, a 40-year trucking company owner, told the site, "Truckers were already getting nervous about all these protests before they even started talking about defunding the police. Everybody has a watchful eye on all these locations and all it’s going to take is just one instance for people to say, ‘No we’re not going there,’ or ‘We’ll take the load, but we’ll deliver to a warehouse 30 miles outside the area.'"

Private security and escorts are possible. Insurance will skyrocket to cover the fires, looting, and beatdowns by angry mobs of self-righteous liberals.

I wonder who will deliver newsprint for the presses of the New York "Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish The Police" Times.
